Drag Time Race Systems was started in the mid 1980’s by a drag boat racer who recognized that the unique needs of drag boat racing were quite different than those of their automotive brethren. Not only is the starting method completely different but there is also the added challenge of making electronics work on and in water.

The original timing system was designed and built under the Microsoft DOS operating system using readily available, off the shelf hardware. In the mid 90’s when DOS was being phased out, it was realized that moving to a Windows environment was going to be necessary if Drag Time was going to survive.

The system electronics were redesigned, moving away from off the shelf hardware and incorporating a custom designed electronics package into the concept. The Software was rewritten using the Windows allowing for a user environment that was much simpler.

Today, the systems are made to be very powerful yet flexible enough to accommodate any type of side by side, multi-lane racing. Maintaining a highly reliable electronics package along with a simple user interface remains a high priority.
