Hope everyone had a safe holiday and got to be with the ones you love. Traci's mom is improving a little more each day. Today is a good day. She is aware of where she is and what is going on. We just need to get her pneumonia under control. Keep her and Traci in your prayers. Many have been asking for an address to send cards to. Traci has asked that you send them to her parents address, which is...

Thank you for all your love and support.

The latest update I have on Traci's mom is that they have finally taken her off the ventilator. Which is good news! This means we are starting to get a handle on the pneumonia and we can hopefully get her out of ICU soon.

Thank you for the continued prayers

New update from Traci....

I just wanted give everyone another update on our mom's progressive. Yesterday they took her of the ventilator and she is now just on oxygen. This is a huge step in her being able to get out of ICU. Her oxygen levels are still higher then the doctors would like them to be so they will need to come down quite a bit before they move her to a room. Also her heart rate is still in the low 100's and need to be between 80 and 90's. Her swelling is getting much better and Traci says you can even see her bones again, which is good for my mom. They also took off the leg compressions as she is moving her legs more. Another cat scan on her eye was done on Friday because she was seeing double, but the cat scan showed no problems. They are keeping a close watch on her eye but believe she is straining to see and that is causing the double vision. Today they are going to put a small chest tube between her lungs and chest wall to help drain the fluid. They believe this will really help her breathing. She has also begun having bowel movements which means her organs are beginning to function. She is on pretty high doses of pain medication which is making her a little loopy but is extremely alert and it is nice to hear her voice again. We are hopeful that she will be out of ICU by the end of the week. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.

Love,
Traci, Trish, and Travis

I spoke with Traci last night and her mom is doing great. They finally moved her out of ICU last night and in to a regular room. The procedure to drain the fluid from her chest worked wonders. They removed over a liter of fluid from her chest. Pam is breathing easier and has been able to lower her oxygen demand. They have removed all the feeding tubes and she is eating regular food. She is able to sit up right now and the next step will be moving her from the bed to a chair. Traci told me that they physical therapist was going to come by today to discuss getting her up and walking. Pam informed all of us that she was done with the hospital and wanted to go home by Sunday. We would like to have her home by early next week so keep your fingers crossed. I will let you all know more as soon as I hear from Traci today.

Thxs

This is the "official" up date on Traci's mom......

Here is another update on my mom's status. On Wednesday afternoon they moved her into a "step-down" room (less than ICU but more care than just a regular room). Since being out of the ICU she has been able to sleep a lot better at night, since there is so much less noise. They have had her sitting up in a chair frequently over the last several days. Today they took her of the oxygen but she still has the chest tube in which helps with some suction in being able to fully expand her lungs. They turned off the suction and it was still to difficult for her to fully expand her lung. The chest tube has been a great success though, when they first put it in they extracted 1 liter of fluid between her chest cavity and lung. Soon after her pain level decreased, oxygen level and heart rate went down to more normal levels as well. Exactly what they wanted to be able to get her out of the ICU. She has been eating over the last several days not a great amount but they took out the feeding tube on Wednesday. Today a physical therapist came by and my mom walked to the bathroom. The walking and sitting has been a lot of pressure on her back and she is in a lot of pain but she is pulling through it. They are able to put a brace on her back to help support and assist her (more pain management) but it would go right over and put pressure on her incision, so they are not using the brace at this moment.

Her spirits are really good and told my sister the other day she does not need a physical therapist she is just going to walk out of the hospital. The doctors are not able to give us any dates about when she would be able to come home, but our guess is maybe a one to two more weeks. The main thing is getting her to breath fully, but who knows she may just want to fight the doctors and have them release her early. Everything that she has been through she is doing great and she can not wait to be home.

I know those of you in AZ really want to see her, but with cold and flu season and the fact that she stills tires easily we are asking that you wait until she is home. She needs your love and support right now and would love to see you soon.

Thank you for all of the continued prayers and support.
