You guys are right that is Charlie Ames in the Heatwave.

Meanstreak--after you posted Ricky Ray Roberts in Payback I looked back at the picture and thought you may be right. I may have the pic mis labelled. Your probably right.

OK guess who this and how many tiles he broke getting the boat back out of the pool

i remember talking to about this years and years ago, if i remeber i think it was less than 10 tiles broken

I remeber reading about this but never saw a picture of it. Wasn't  this done without Bob's knowledge for his Birthday? Pretty ingenious.

Duane your'e right that was 4th of July 95. That was the boat that ended up hitting the damn in Red Bluff. It was Bob's idea. Everyone was sitting around and board so they all decided it would be cool to put the boat in the pool. Luckily Bob has a pretty big pool. Only four tiles were broken getting it out. Can you tell in the night shot the boat is sitting a little lower. Everyone got tired and Bob said we'll just take it out of the pool in the morning. So everyone left. A short time later Bob noticed the boat was taking on water and sinking so he had to get some inner tubes and stick them under the boat to keep it from going under until morning when he had more help to get it out.

No it's not Jay. I think at this time jay was in an UGH which was red and blue.

Is it Greg Shoemaker or Norm Grimes in Dash for Cash?

or Double Vision?

The boat in the picture is a Cole Hydro, older version.

Gary it is Larry AJ Jackson in the Tux N Bux and it was the old style Cole hydro. It was a BGH in this picture

OK here's a new one.

My dad bought this boat in 1979 or 1980. Our friend Hippie George Crowle also from Sacramento told my dad it was for sale. We ended up running it in the BGH class

Well they are both old now, but the newer of the two had a windshield and from what I remember a few changes to the sponsons. I know Rex and Glenn Hutchison had both. The older one ran much better than the new style one.

There were actually 3 true Cole's and Jim also bought 2 Deaver molds (from one of Deaver's many going out of business sales) and built a few out of them. The first one was a pretty close copy of a Dimarco, not too many built, the mold was sold to Cobra boats, The 2nd generation was lower profile in the deck with an indented body line down the center of the deck. This was what the record holding Sin Fuel boat was built out of, 190 MPH BAH. The third is a little higher profile in the deck with a cool little windshield and built in splash rail in the back. If you rolled both #2 and #3 over there are some differences in the sponson area but nothing major. Sin Fuel also ran one of the #3's with less sucess than their #2. The guy that really kicked ass in a #3 was Jim Epler (Mr. 300 MPH Funny Car fame). He Ran 193MPH in BAH in 1985. I ran both the #2 and #3 version. I like the #3, I built and put my first capsule in it, it was a great boat. I think I ran 196 in it. Rick Kyees won a few BGH Championships in his #3, along with lots of others. I don't think there has ever been a better looking ski hydro than the #3 version. But I am kind of partial to it, I bought the mold from Jim and it is still sitting in my back yard.

I thought that was right I thought there was only two , the Deaver and then I thougt the windshield and rear splash was the only changes he went to. Wasn't the sin fuel boat wasn't that the boat the changed over on a saturday night because it wouldn't shut down smooth. I think it was in bakersfield or red bluff

Didn't Glenn leg or set the record at Red Bluff?  For some reason 196mph comes to mind.  He sure was fun to watch.

Yes Glenn set the record in Red Bluff going 190.27mph. The old record was 186mph set by Tim Morgan. Morgan's record had stood for some time before Glenn broke it. Glenn is now traveling around with his son who races these little mini nascar type go carts.
