You are right Clay, this was Karls BAH. The pit shots are from Greewood S.C. I think around 1988. Two of the action shots are from Gadsden, I think he may have been running BGH at that time. I met a racer from Ohio at Gadsden last year that is running one of the Sundown hulls. Who knows , could be this one. John |

Hi John. I think I'm the guy from Ohio you met. I was in Gadsden last year but we first met at Augusta in 99. The old dogs gave out and you set me up with a set of new ones. They're still in it. I've got Karl's BGH of the mid '80's. I think the pictures here are a 501. The one I've got is a 500. Boat handles great. Never gave me any cause for concern. Of course I'm running it about 2 seconds slower than Karl did. Tim |

Greg, I'm just south of Yougstown. I use to watch the Final Effort run back in the mid 80's. John White, I thought you were the John that made the post before yours. I too thought Karl went from BGH to TFH. I was out of touch with him from about 88 to 93 when he crashed the first fuel boat. If thats the case, then I would say that picture is my boat now. I know for a fact that the boat I own is Karls BGH, but it dosen't have a windshield. I bought it off Rick Bolea who ran it in PGH that bought it from Karl. Tim |

Hi Tim, My son and I met you and your wife last year at Gadsden. Thanks for taking time to talk to us. We will post the pictuer I have of your boat, seems appropriate for this set. Hope to see you in the future if you make it down this way. John Lang |

| Tim I thought you had bought the gasser. I met Karl when he took over ADBA we have been friends ever since. Karl, Tina and Warren Jones were all here in Texas in May for a Harley rally. We had a blast funny never took Karl or Tina for a Harley riders lol. You gonna get the boat out this year? Good luck! |

John and Jaun, now that I have my Johns staightened out. I haven't gotten to race yet this year. Work wasn't cooperating. It's all straightened out now. I plan on being in Augusta. If you guys come, stop by and say hi. John, we always have time for the fans. Looking forward to seeing that picture. Jaun, you're right about Karl and Tina and Harleys. I thought they would be into drag boats forever. Bikes are nice, but I think they're to dangerous. I'll stick with drag boats. LOL Tim |

| Duane i wasn't out east to know that the screw blowers were used back then. There were only 1 or 2 of them {BGH} running this way back then and only roots type blowers. The first one ran in SDBA was Kenny Sayers on the one vision boat if i am not mistaken, and that was after capsules were mandated. And if i think back to all the years when charlie allen had IHBA they ran roots type blowers well after capsule were installed. |

Guys,
If you remember there was big problems with the first screw blowers. They were coming apart. They had to change from casting parts to forged /billet parts if my memory serves me right. NHRA had place a ban on them around 1988 that lasted several years. Nowadays they are common among the Alcohol ranks of NHRA racing. They are much more efficient than the roots blower.

Now that I remember, that is BGH. That was the top class that year in Greenwood. I have a few more from there to post. Next will be some action shots that might fit in the guess who catagory. Get ready Clay.
