Last but certainly not least. Eddie Hill backlit by Jimmy Wrights rooster tail. Man the early to mid 80's. Those were magical times.

The last picture is the final round in 82 at Highpoint. I tried to focus on both boats with the idea when they got to my vantage point I would get them side by side. Mr. Wright didn't cooperate. I snapped the picture not really knowing what if anything I had gotten. So what you see is Jimmy's 222 mph roostertail. The place went nuts as I remember. That was the fastest pass I had ever seen. They pulled the boat onto the ramp and did whatever maintenance thay could, maybe just refueled and he went back out for a backup run. The sun had set and the last few minutes of light made its way as he blasted down track one more time. Little did we know that was the last time we would see Jimmy Wright and NItro Fever.

Hello Mr. Padgett,
I was a big fan of your dads and Final Effort. The color scheme of the 1980 boat (BAH?) was great, The boat, 6 wheel trailer and tow vehicle all painted that lavender/purple was an eye catcher. I had some pit shots of that set up but unfortunately they are no longer in my collection. I really hope some of the gang I hung with in those days will see this site and post what they have. Between myself and the others that were taking pictures there has to be hundreds of photos . I will post the photos I do have of Final Effort, from Oakridge.
