hey everybody, i was thinking about doing research on the sport of drag boat racing in general from when and how it began to the types of hulls to the changes in classes, etc, etc.

does anybody have any helpful sites or information in general? it would be greatly appreciated!

some basic questions:

1. what year exactly did drag boat racing start?
2. how many classes were there to begin with?
3. what was the first association for drag boat racing?

you can e-mail me at: jelly692@comcast.net

thanks!

In regard to your migration to God's Country, 4 years is a long time...

From everything I've ever read in the past, drag boat racing officially started at Hart park in Bakersfield,CA not far from Lake Ming (I think) There are some pictures floating around somewhere that show the first race.

Jelly:

I went into the deep dark depths of my historical inventory if useless items and found something that might interest you.

In the not so long ago pages of Hot Boat magazine....the November/December 1998 issue, there is an article titled "THE HISTORY OF THE CALIFORNIA HOT BOAT - The First 30 years..."

It gives the history, beginning in 1943 of the people that made the boats that started boat racing.

I'll make you a copy and mail it to you if you want it. PM me your address if you want it.
