I think the world finals in Bakersfield occured on the first weekend of May 1979.Not sure.My dad raced Comp Jet at the time.I was 13 and loved nothing more than going to the boat drags.Kenny West was my Hero. |

I have boxes of photos from my dads boats , Sangers and Brendella, Hondo boats . His boats were Jokers Wild, White Mist, Shakey.. Oakland is bout 15 mins from where we lived in Moraga at that time. I can pull out the pics and records and reel movies. Back when i was still in diapers, Blown Fuel Flat Bottoms were a wild ride. I remember him blowing up motors and running to local Mopar dealer and buying a few Cudas and Chargers and Challengers scrapping the whole car except for motors.
What a waste to toss out the classics like that. LOL |

Boat #116 Hot Dam driver is Terry Pilens out of Wichita KS. We bought the boat from Mike Brendell,repainted ,but in new seat, new motor etc. Mike Brendell's boat # was 006. |
