Geral, I've used the all in one scanner, printer, fax units from HP and Lexmark with no problems. My personal favorite is an old Logitech color scanner that just keeps on running. Now for the places to look for great deals...My mom and sister have me convinced that homeshopping.com is an online sight to always consider...also check newegg.com. they are a smorgasbord of computer pieces and parts.

Good luck and I hope this helps

Take care

Geral,

I have to agree with Bruce about the All-N-One units that’s why I like the Minolta because it is a commercial All-N-One Color (photo grade) printer, scanner and copier!!! lol my personal HP scanner does negatives and slide plus… it been reliable and dependable for quite a few years. Cost about a buck & quarter I think four years ago. If you have the time do a Google for the scanner like Bruce said you can get some pretty good deal if you don’t need it now off the net.

The picture is of Kyle Walker taking his drivers test in London, Ontario - 1986.  Steve Wagner stepped down and Fred Bray called in (as Roger Monroe called him that weekend) "Rent-a-shoe-Walker".  The reason I know this is because it's my shot.  I took it from the finish line.  If you take a closer look you'll notice he can't see a darn thing.  He told me he had forgotten to tighten his chin strap.  It was at that moment he was letting off the throttle (see the butterflies).  At the next race in St. Louis I asked Nick (pres of ADBA at the time) if he should have given him his license.  Of course he should if you can drive a Blown Fueler at 180 mph without being able to see!!!

I don't recall where, but I read a bio/story about Kyle and the call he got asking if he wanted to go faster than he had ever been before shoeing a BFH.  He talked about not having his helmet tight and it covering his eyes on the pass.  Makes me stop and think and shake my head in amazment.  Very special man that can do that.shocked

Got my new scanner, but can't get the wireless to work right for it or the DSL.  Getting closer.

Geral, The next time I talk to Hippie George I'll see if he has a picture of a firebird incident of his. He hit a roller on the big end causing him to lift and get back into it. The blower exploded and hit him hard enough to split his helmet and knock him on onto the deck of the boat with both hands on the wheel. He said it was quite interesting to be looking up at the sky laying flat on his back at 180mph.

Does anybody have a shot of the 1981 or 82 Drag Boat Roundup in Chowchilla where Frank Dade won TFH. The pass was made at dusk and when it was over there was a "Nitro Haze" floating about 10 - 15 feet over the water. The announcer said, "The picture tells it all, Smoke on Water is your event winner.

I wish I could remember who was runner-up. I want to say it may have been Jimmy Wright & Nitro Fever...But I've been wrong before..

hop hop ***Sending positive thoughts your way to get that scanner fired up and working on the wireless....*** hop hop

The greatest thing about those photos is that there is not an enclosed trailer or semi-truck in sight.  Back then it was about the boats....not who has the bigger circus!

If you look closely to scan0003, you'll see Karl Petrik's Sundown getting ready to come out of the water.  The picture was taken in 1979 at Dayton.  Karl was running comp hydro that year.  Any guesses as to which Blown Fueler it is?

Yes.  I have pictures of Smoke on the Water at Chowchilla.  I think its 82.  It is the race that Hill ran the 229mph pass.  Was there 2 races that year at Chowchilla?  I thought Eddie Hill won the final that weekend.

everyone has there own way of knowing i guess .........

but for me every picture of wagner i ever saw he had a very distinctive way he leaned into the steering wheel and ive always noticed that it looked the same in every picture i was ever shown ... like a man in control

in the picture in this thread of the coors boat the driver even looks like a blind man holding on for dear life! ..... more like the man in the inserted picture

i also thought the picture of nitro express/farndon foss was at chowchilla ... those trees looked more like the ones to the right after the starting line ... and it reminds me of a picture in an old hot boat magazine.

and ......

and the water ...... it looks like chowchilla water ( dont ask ... it just does)
been to both places enough times

Geral,
Eddie was runner-up when he set that record. Jimmy Wright / NitroFever won that race.

There may have been three races that year...I'm not 100% on that though...

I edited this, earlier I had posted Nitro Bandit as the boat and we all know that Brad Tuttle drove Nitro Bandit...

your right there could have been 3 races there that year, i remeber as a kid being in california for months at a time it seems like as while in texas for months at a time and come home for a week or two for our ADBA races. i loved living in a hotel room. i wouldnt have traded that child hood for anything. i also remeber when there was so many NDBA,SDBA,ADBA,and at that time a sanction IHBA races that the season opener in pheonix at the feb. or beganing of march. then we were on the road it seems everyweeked tell about october. i loved traveling so much, all the nice people wild parties at the motel bars and pools, i saw alot at an early age

I had a chance to dig thru the album a little bit and found a couple more pics that fall into this category.  The first is Final Effort and Hillbilly in High Point, NC in 1987.  Maybe Gregory can help us with the details on who is driving Final Effort.  My guess was Weathered, but I could be wrong.  I think Jerry Fulgham was driving Hillbilly.  The other shot is of Hillbilly leaving the starting line at the World Finals in Phoenix in 1986.
