For those that might be interested in checking out another form of boat racing, this weekend will be the first annual Salton Sea "Speed Week" Dec. 5,6,7 at the State Recreation Park, North Shore, Salton Sea. It's about 40 min. from Palm Springs. They will be running all types of boats in an attempt to break the kilo world records. (5/8 mile) It's promoted by Centurion so we will have the truck and boat there on display. Duane, it's not that far from our favorite sushi joint!!!!! C,mon, the cold sake is waiting.

Bring Mark with you. I wonder if Tony is driving anything this weekend?? He seems to have his foot in just about anything with a prop!

I live in the wrong part of the world! Too bad I got run out of Palm Springs last week, Gary pushed me out of the car at the airport so I figured that meant it was time to go home.

If I leave today . . .

Oh, come on now, Steve.  Don't tell me there is nothing going on in your neck of the woods this month.  Aren't  the dog sled world finals going on this weekend?    Or the largest fish catching contest in those little outhouses on the ice?

Laugh it up California boy! You guys don't know how lucky you are. Try a few months of Pacific Northwest rain sometime.

Hopefully I will be going up to Brackendale for the eagle count at least. That's a big deal, one year they had about 3000 eagles up there. The weather in December and January leaves a little something to be desired though.

Well if I qualify as a tree hugger we're all in trouble! 3 vehicles, a race boat somewhere and I commute about 80 miles a day most of the time. And I'm not very slow about it either. Even commuting in a badly traffic managed city the hemi magnum still has a 45+ mph average according to my gps.

Word from the Salton Sea is that Dave Bryant has set a new kilo record in the APBA Super Stock Class with at 126 mph average which replaces the 121 mph standing record. This is an unofficial report.

Dave did break the record held by Tony for that class. It was a pretty slow weekend with the boat count being low but it could be the start of something good for the future. The sea is 14 miles wide and about 25 miles long so there's plenty of room for the Biiiiig boats. It was cool to see Tony, Joey and the guys giving it a go, and a bunch of our drag boat photo dudes were there too. We'll see what happens for next year.
BTW Duane, what's with the no-show on the Sushi-fest??
