Lucas Oil Products is proud to announce the formation of a new drag boat sanctioning organization, The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. Beginning in 2010, the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will offer ten National events which will be televised on the Speed and Versus channels. Team Lucas Operations Director Mike Chastain stated, “The televised series will include thirteen 30- minute episodes on the Speed channel and four 1-hour episodes on Versus, reaching an audience of more than seventy fi ve million subscribers. This is probably the most exciting time for the sport of drag boat racing, and Lucas Oil Products is equally excited about establishing this positive direction for the future of the sport.” The National Series will be comprised of the Top Fuel Hydro, Top Alcohol Hydro, Top Alcohol Flatbottom and Pro Mod classes.

In addition to the ten National series events, the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will play host to 40-plus co-santioned Divisional events with the Columbia Drag Boat Association (CDBA), Kentucky Drag Boat Association (KDBA), National Jet Boat Association (NJBA), Southern Drag Boat Association (SDBA) and St. Louis Drag Boat Association (SLDBA). Heads of State of these sanctioning associations recently met with Lucas Oil offi cials to solidify a single set of race rules and to lay the foundation for co-sanctioning agreements, making for a smooth transition into this new structure.

In addition, Ken and Patti Dollar have accepted full time positons with Lucas Oil Products to serve as Series Director and Offi ce Administrator, respectively. “Ken and Patti have been involved in the sport of drag boat racing for many years in numerous offi cial capacities and will be a valuable asset in the success of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. We are very excited to have them on the Lucas Team”, stated Mike Chastain.

Construction also began on November 23rd for the expansion of a purpose-built drag boat race track at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri facility that will be stateof- the art, with onsite camping, sky boxes and numerous other amenities for the racers and race fans alike.
