How about a thread devoted to us bracket racers???

Wouldnt it be nice for us to post the bracket results from the races.  What our plans are for the year and how many races we plan on attending. I'm talking about PWC to our big dog brothers P/E.

I enjoy watching the pro classes on speed vision and at the races, as well as hearing all about them on this and the other various sites. I personally would like to hear more from some of  us lake boat "slash" racers.

Things like brother stix making it to the semi finals at the world finals out of a 27 boat field. Things like Joe Shelfo winning the world championship and the finals. Things like the guy that goes out to Lake Ming for the first time and is so excited because he ran a 9.67 et at 105 mph. Things like questions from first time racers trying to get their boat to pass tech etc. Just a thought, bracket racers unite...

That would be nice. The only way I know who won anything really is through Dragboat review.

Hey Trick Pony are you planning on making some more races this year??

Jeff, you have a good point. Bracket racing is a little tougher than most people know. I love all types of boat racing, especially the circle boats. I have raced both types of racing, pro and bracket, and this is what it boils down to.
Bracket boats are big bucks, some maintainance, and all the competition you can ask for.
Pro boats are bigger bucks, alot more maitainance, and in the end, if you do well, you get the glory, but it comes at a very high price. Take for instance, Jerry Kutz, this is a good example. He was a great bracket racer and when he raced a 10 second boat just a few years ago, he had a lot more time on his hands, and probably a more fruitful checking account. I have family and friends in those top classes, and let me tell you, they are not at Hooters in Phoenix on sat. night at 6:00 pm eating with us. My dad always said to me, I am not going to the track to wrench, I am going to the track to race. The pro racers get the headaches with all their glory. ENOUGH OF THAT.
In P.E. we will have alot of racers at Redbluff this year. I have spoke to some that are returning.
Brian Cummings
Tony Leaman
Mike Schiller
Brian Pinkney
Andy Erskin
Ryan Heiser
All the boys from the CDBA.
These guys are all heavy hitters. Dont be surprised if Erick Sanders shows! You never know what he's up to.
Lets take this bracket racing deal to a higher level.
I will start off an additional purse for the P.E. class, sponsored by Shelfo Enterprises/G.T. boats for the sum of $750. I would like to see it grow to $2000. on top of the $1400. payout. That can make for a pretty good weekend. WHO ELSE IS IN?
All other bracket classes should do the same. This will be for Redbluff, and I will start on something for Chowchilla. If anyone is interested in this, contact me. I would love to see this take off.

Jeff we'll definitely see ya at those races as long as everthing holds together. Sure would be nice to have another DIV 1 race closer to home!!! I just made reservations for Chowchilla and we're pretty excited to go back there!!!

That's a good idea Shelfo. We need to get people involved with this. I saw in dragboat review last year about a bracket race in the midwest that forked out all kinds of prize money for the bracket racers.

Well we do report what the bracket do at the races, its just most people ask or share more post about the Pro Class. I whole heartily agree we this topic and look forward to having help with reporting more information.

Without the brackets there would be no Pro Class and one thing I have share comments with is at the banquets I attended there were mostly older generation receiving awards, acknowledgements etc... We need to promote more entry level information to be inspirational to new racers.

I want go further yet but this is one of the things I have been working on, so thank you for getting it started here.

I will say this now, Help Wanted!!! Must be able to travel, have computer, typing skills, familiar with Microsoft Office Products, the pay is lousy but the friends and memories are priceless!!! Anyone interested contact me.;-)

Duane, we all appreciate the job that you do on this cite and the way you have helped to promote the sport. I realize how busy you are at the races and what a tuff job it is for one person to try to post all of the results. Your the man and have the hook-up to get the results from the IHBAand NJBA trailers.

If your short handed at any of the races you attend, give myself, Stix or Joe Shelfo the bracket results at the end of a race.  I would be happy to post them when I got home and I'm sure they would be also.   Thanks Jeff...

Thanks Jeff, the current plan is to have someone there to do the short hand for us all! I am just the tech guy that has the services to do the job in delivering the information we all want to see, we just need more help on the teamwork to complete the project.

We will continue to deliver race info, a comment was made tonight to me that we have been delivering information about our sport for over 10 years now on the internet, DragBoatRacing.com was my forth project in part of the plan... We really did not realize this until now!!! We would like to also commend Randy Kron with this achievement too! Randy has been as dedicated to the sport as we have been over the years.

In token our other sites have gone wayside but they are still out there, DragBoatRacing.com here to stay and committed strong to complete the project. tongue

Duane, I tried not to forget to thank the people that make our racing program better for all of us. I am not much of a public speaker, and drinking with the Ace of spades crew didn't help either. Gina said that I was sluring on stage. I pissed off Jay Brookhart, because something came out wrong. I did appoligize to him, but he did not accept. I had a great time, and won a little money on the tables. Duane, when your helmet modifcations are done, I will be ready to purchase from you. What the hell is wrong with these PE guys, step up to the plate, and kick in some jack! Lets put our payout over the PM and the PCE.

Tony, you are the man. I have to say, whenever we do this you kick in. You did in 2001 with our reaction time Jackpot, and so did JoDon. So this puts the pot at $1100 , and I am working on outside money coming in. We should move this to its own subject, and I recomend all the other bracket classes to do the same.

Okay, I have more money coming to the jackpot, and I believe with the time between now and redbluff, we will be above $2000.00. The aditional purse will be for the finalist only. 70% for the win, and 30% for r.u. If 32 boats show up, and every team kicks in $20. we will have an additional $640 in the pot. ALL CASH at the trophy presentation.

Count Trick Pony in for $ 100.00 to go toward the jackpot in the T/E class for Redbluff.  Our goal is to collect about $950.00 for the class. This would bring our total payout from $ 1050.00 to $ 2000.00.

Our additional purse will also be for the finalist, winner and runner-up. Were thinking more of a 60% 40% ratio for the additional purse. Cash will be presented at the trophy awards. Post your contributions and
PM me for contact info or see you at Redbluff, just come by our pit.

Hey Vince, I had to edit my original post. I accessed the IHBA site and the purse for T/E was $ 700.00 for the winner and $350.00 for runner-up. We have a ways to go but anything that we can come up with is better than a kick in the A$$.  Maybe we can hit some racers up in our class at the race...

Damn it scoop!

I open up this site for the first time in months and here you are doing what you do best. Stirring the pot for the betterment of your class!

The racers you mentioned for Red Bluff are some of the best in the class. Brian Cumings, Tony Leeman, Andie Erskie, Gary Brown, Alan Forsite and of course you and your pop's.

Out of the names you mentioned the only one I know that will be at the track but not in the P/E ranks will be me!.

Put J E S Builders Inc down for $200 so this has been can keep in good with his ex-P/E brothers.

So far we are at $1700.00 plus the Promoters purse. If you are a Pro 'E' racer and can even kick in $20., it all helps build the purse. I am working on some bigger money sponsors for this race. Instead of keeping the moneys for my program, I have decided to share with the other racers. AT the track,I encourage a small donation of any sort by the racers of the class. If you decide not to, I will make sure that your boat is looked at very closely at the NJBA races! Just kidding. Come on, cut back on just 5 gallons of gas for your car! Thanks guys and Thanks to all the good people that have donated to this purse. Joe

Tony,....you could still wear the open helmet here also.  Walt has had both blocks since Nov. and visited with him yesterday.  He says the old block(6.9 ET)can be saved and is working on it.  The new block, that Randy damaged in June, is definitely trash.  It would have to go to Tim after that.  If things were to come together correctly, it would be at least Chowchilla, maybe Red Bluff, before it could be ready.  It's only money and the kids inheritance is already gone anyway.

Hats off to Duane and thanks for posting all of the NJBA race results, classes and brackets. Especially since you worked all day Saturday and then jammed up to Bakersfield on Sunday to catch the eliminations rain or shine.

Bracket Racers lets keep the purses going for the Redbluff race.  The winners will sure be glad we did...  yeah
