This past Sat the Attitude Racing team took up my offer to meet at Lake Yosemite and look the site over, to my surprise they showed up with thier hydro and after a little wrenching went out and made a couple of "soft" passes. My phone started ringing Sat night from friends that heard we were at the lake with a boat and everyone at the lake wanted to know what it was how fast it went etc. Merced is excited about a National Series race coming to town. We will be hosting a formal announcemet of the race with press, radio, and tv I will post that info and invite any who wish to attend. Please feel free to contact the Chamber for a list of businesses in town, I think they are linked to our site, do'nt wait until Sept to look for local sponsor's start now, if you need info on the event for a potential sponsor get in touch with us I will email or mail you a package. If you want to do displays get in touch now we can contact our radio station and work on live remotes for you and the business. You can go to the IHBA site and downlaod thier package, I printed several on gloss paper and bound them and they are nice. hj |

John not as safe as a race but some thought was given and boats and jet ski's were in the water. John I can'nt believe your roots arn't in street racen, you should have seen my burn outs at the old Tropican Motel or Caprie in Bakersfied back about 64-65. All 355 inches of Jack Danials burning 48 Anglia with no front wheel brakes, or the time my buddy drove his TFD about a mile to a party in Fresno(he went out in the first round at this years March meet). John you lead a sheltered life move to Calif. Besides the climate the first lier doesn't stand a chance!! Again if any of you need any help let me know and I will try to assist. |

so it sounds like we made a few waves in making a couple of burnouts at the new yosemite site. sorry about that, howard invited us, we took him up on it and had a little fun, no big deal, it's just a little 427 in this hydro (how fast can it really go???)in this hydro, however, i've got the best saftey man in my crew chief and if he says the boats ready to run, i'm good with that. in regards to the facility, i think it's gonna be a great place to run and ample parking and pitting.

The course will be along the shore at the bottom of the photo. We will launch off the beach in the second cove going away from the dam. The out ramp is at the bottom left corner of the dam. I should have the map in the next week or so. We like our courses to be close to 4000 feet. Water will average 15-25 very clear and under 65 degrees (they trout fish in this lake year round), as it is feed by the Merced River via a canal. The new UC campus is being built on the golf course after a long battle with enviormental issues. |

To update you all on the IHBA National Series race in Merced on Sept 6 and 7, the official kick off will be in Merced during the week of July 7-12. I will be posting the location and times as soon as we have them up on our web site, which is in the process of being worked on. We hope to go east for some of the action in Marble Falls so we may see you there. We have been contacted by three TFH teams that plan to us the California Finals as a shake down for next year. As usual there will be a posted purse. Speed noticed your comment on Castaic some time back, don't be surprised to see that site back on the schedule sooner than you think. The site is a bit difficult for us to set up but at the right time of the year you just deal with a little tail wind. Or maybe another Bakersfield, I am a few years from AARP and ready to do a little more racen, shoot we rolled in at 5:15 AM frome the Quad race in Santa Maria Sat. at 10:00 we were set up to feed 100+ at our old friend Jerry O's memorial service. Like my daughter said today Pop I'm starten to feel a little racy, which means she has meetings for me to attend. |

Howard,..... Again, I traveled out to the lake, and as I said before, the facility shows real promise. I would like to meet with you, if possible, at the site to go over the setup. I will be traveling north again, this coming Thursday or Friday morning, the 31st or the 1st. My apologies for not returning your call, but I could not and still can't locate your number. DIRECTIONS FOR TRAVELERS "SOUTH" OF MERCED Go NORTH ON CA-99. Take the CA-140 MARIPOSA/YOSEMITE exit off of CA-99 NORTH and go EAST on CA-140/YOSEMITE PARKWAY 2.8 miles to KIBBY RD. Turn LEFT/NORTH on KIBBY RD. and go 2.7 miles to where it "T"s at YOSEMITE AVE. Turn LEFT/WEST on YOSEMITE AVE. and go 1.0 mile to LAKE RD. Turn RIGHT/NORTH on LAKE RD. and go 2.6 miles to the LAKE YOSEMITE PARK entrance. A total of 9.0 miles from the CA-140 MARIPOSA/YOSEMITE exit for CA-99 NORTH travelers. This way is a couple of miles shorter and avoids going through the center of the City of Merced. The majority of the hotel/motels are located close to this exit. For those who wish to use their computers with a MSN MAPS/MAPQUEST program, the final/end address for the LAKE YOSEMITE PARK facility is: 5714 NORTH LAKE ROAD, MERCED, CA, 95340-8656

Hey, if you guys are hanging out at the new race site, it would be very helpful to us to know some statistical info about the lake (i.e. depths along the course, water temperature in early Sept., etc.) Any info would be appreciated and helpful in determining our kits.

Scotty get me a fax number I think our survey has water depth down the course and shut down I'll fax it to you. Bill, I'm best reached on cell 209-761-1900. Thur July 31 our media kick off party downtown we have a city block bring your boat pick up info, eat a little T.Wheeler BBQ and have a few soda's on me. Laurie and I will be announcing some additions to our purse. We will have media present if you like to be live!! It is sooooo nice to have a city realize what a great oppertunity it is to have an IHBA National come to town. Our media blitz should open some doors for racers to get local sponsor's, remember it is Laurie, and her family so we can help you some but we are very busy now. If you contact a business, that wants more info, we will be glad to met with you in advance and go over how we might help you gain support, i.e. on site banners, vip tickets, commercial tags, displays etc. |

Ron we will run a 2 day program as it is late in the year and most teams have it dialed in or no parts left to test with. Our standard deal has been Friday 9:00 with the exception of "Gods Mechanical Duck" and he may be there now getting ready. If I had more children we would have more help, and it doesn"t help that we are in harvest and my son steals all the help, so I don't think I have anyone to do the cute parking numbers it will be this area is RR-1 etc. |

Greetings - this is Laurie (of I.Q. Motorsports) and I noticed that there was a question which seemed to go unanswered about when the pits will open for the California Finals in Merced. We will open the gates to pit at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5th. If you need race information, visit our website at WWW.IQMOTORSPORTS.COM and download the two information sheets - one is specifically for race teams and posts the purse for the event as well as registration information; the other is general event information. Both would be helpful in planning your trip to the event. Friday Night Thunder will be held later that evening at the Save Mart shopping center at the corner of Olive and "G" Streets in Merced. The event will be broadcast live on KUBB 96.3 and we hope that everyone will come out and participate in the show & shine competition...and of course, try to win some money! Please do not hesitate to bother us with questions about the race, we are both glad to answer them. You can contact the office at (916) 731-5163 or E-mail me at info@iqmotorsports.com. A special thank you to Jim Gates, Jim Dunn, Jason Silva, Dave & Sean Lipinski and Bill Cooper for the beautiful boats we were able to display at our kick-off event on July 31st!
p.s. if anyone needs discount coupons or posters for the event that you want to help us get out, let me know - we are always grateful for your help in that regard! |

Hey Guys, I have had a couple of questions about RV parking & camping for the California Finals...so this is the information I have so far; first, we are permitted to have race teams overnight in self-contained RV's & trailers Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th - the sites are $100 for the weekend and are on the lake but are above the course a ways so they won't have much of a view at all (it's just a space/lay-out thing). There are no hook-ups on site. There are sites with hook-ups in Merced at the County Fairgrounds and they can be reached at (209) 722-1506 for reservations. I checked on camping facilities and found one nice site that is fairly close by - here is the link to some info online: http://www.gocampingamerica.com/mercedriver/I have also had questions about pitting on Thursday. We can't pit boats until 10:00 am on Friday as the park is not "ours" legally until Friday morning. We will pit from 10:00am-4:00pm and begin heading for Friday Night Thunder downtown to set up from 4:00pm-6:00pm. People in town are really excited about the show & shine - it should be a great time. Hotels are going to be full soon - so if you plan on making room reservations be sure to get on it. Let us know if you begin to run into problems as the race gets closer and we can try to locate other hotels in neighboring towns if all of the Merced rooms fill (it's altogether possible!) Anyone who is in the Modesto area tomorrow, Friday, August 15th - we will be out at The Outback Steakhouse (Briggsmore Exit at Hwy. 99) displaying a boat and giving out discount coupons, etc. If you are in the neighborhood come by and say hello to my husband Matt & I anytime after 4:00 pm. Let us know if you run into other questions! Laurie |

Not even close. Lake Yosemite is in the town of Merced. What Scotty was referring to is a day trip we have planned for Friday to Yosemite Nat'l. Park. From what I remember, it is about a 2 hour drive from Merced. |

Good news Hos, I'll get Scotty to check out the fishing there for me as I will be on the banks of the Merced river at Yosemite National Park in mid Oct. for my brothers wedding. I did try to get him to move his plans up a month to accommodate my desire to see the race. Too bad I could not convince him or the bride to be.

Ok Tony! You prune pickers may play grab a$$ with each other and jump the fence from time to time. That's OK for you, but we Texans are a little on the homophobic side. To us, queer means stange or unusual. I've been innocently sitting on the sideline staying outa y'alls love quarrels, and now you went and dragged me into it. That hurts Man, It really hurts.

C'mon Scotty, loosen up! It's all legal here in the Golden State. In fact, our Governor is preparing to sign a "domestic partner" law into effect that will allow same-sex "partners" to receive the same benefits as a married couple. Could be his last heroic act before the recall.
Tony is going to pick you up at the airport and show you the time of your life. You're going to see a lot more than Yosemite. Y'all can't expect to come to California and not taste the fruit. |

somebody needs to make a challenge...
a gauntlet needs to be constructed...
or some cahones need to be measured...
for years i have seen many of the west coast boats travel on the eastern swing to compete with the regulars over there ... this year is no exception . i hope we see the favour returned this year at the calif. finals in 2 weeks. i am asking that names like roger way racing, speed sports, public nuisance (and others) make the trip to the west and give us the show that your local fans got when ... madness, loose cannon, super star (and others) made the long trip back east.
and i'm not talkin bout phoenix
not here to piss anyone off ...... i just want 10 boat fields in tfh, tah, taf, pm etc etc ..... is that to much to ask?
if ya got it ..... race it !

Brad, if you had to compete against 5.27's in a TAH, it might make you look for another class to run in. The 4 week break between MF and Merced has been nice (solid work on the home place), but now it's time to go again. I am really looking forward to this race.
