For over 10 years we have been delivering the Race Report as live as possible here on DragBoatRacing.com. Well today would like to see it in real time (ok only a 3 second delay!)? Visit http://dragboatracing.com/racereport/sdba.aspx and check out the new Race Report Live from the SDBA/Lucas Oil Little Caesar’s Oklahoma Nationals in Oklahoma, City ,OK. Please keep in mind this is only Beta v1 and the user interface has not been designed yet. You can provide feedback for the design and what you would like to see in this thread. Enjoy, Duane |

duane, is this up and running now?? hard to tell because there's no specific date assigned to each page. there are 15 pages, but can't tell if it's qualifying or t&t (several pages are repeated).
the format looks good - just can't tell what's going on. |

duane, much better today. much better to have everything on one page. but the updates seem to be getting progressively slower??? seems like it's trying to refresh everything from friday through this morning. maybe if the runs were seperated for each day it would download quicker???? it is very cool, and many thanks for the effort! |

Thanks for the results Duane.. I was hoping you were going to have them.. Only thought I have is it's kind of tuff to figure out what round it is.. It may be me, I'll have to scan thru them again.. I do have a question, were they running PM and TAF to 1000'? If so why and is this permanent? |

duane, overall excellent! adding the date and class really helped. when the 2nd chance results started, it was kind of hard to follow, but could be figured out - just had to remember who had already been eliminated or go back and look again. vince, it looks like it's permanent... |

Well for something that I did not intend to go public with yet the beta test went ok.
Some of the changes that are planned are: 1. Sorting by class 2. Display decending order 3. Grouped by run type; qualifying, eliminations etc… 4. The last run to be displayed in 2 columns right and left lane 5. Ladders for Eliminations 6. Printable Time Slips (just in case you lost the one from the track)
Any other request?

Duane, The new version works great. Just pick what you want in the drop down box's and it's there. Now if you can add the elimination ladders....... Gary |

Drag Boat Classes |

To maintain a high level of competition, the Sanctioning Body has classification system that organizes the boats into tightly matched categories. There are two basic categories: ET classes based on elapsed time and Pro classes based on structural differences. Drivers can choose either category and use this to their advantage.
Speed is not the determining factor in the ET classes – the only thing that counts is the time (seconds) needed to complete the quarter mile course. Drivers can clock slower times in their specific ET classes, but face disqualification if they go faster. There are no structural restrictions in the ET classes, which allow a wide variety of boats to compete. Driver skill and mechanical modifications producing acceleration are crucial in this category of classes.
The Pro classes depend on structure, including the variables: engine structure, fuel type and hull structure. Engine structure depends on physical size and method of introducing fuel. Engines can be normally aspirated by a carburetor or fuel injection system (Pro Gas) or supercharged (Blown). The supercharged engine uses a blower to force air into the engine, resulting in increased compression per cylinder. In the Pro classes, engines can not exceed 500 cubic inches and must burn a gasoline fuel. In Blown classes, engines can not exceed 565 cubic inches and can burn either methanol (alcohol), nitromethane (Top Fuel), or a combination of the two (Blown Fuel Jet).
The third variable in the Pro classification is the hull type, including hydroplanes, flat bottoms, or jets. By this definition, a gas burning boat with a carburetor or fuel injection system and a hydroplane hull is a Pro Gas Hydro (PGH). A methanol burning boat with a blower and a flat bottom hull is a Blown Alcohol Flat (BAH). |

Drivers usually choose a classification at the beginning of each season and stay with their choice for the racing year. A driver rarely changes classifications because of the point system. Points are based on performance, compiled over the length of the season. Changing classes would almost surely deny a driver the chance to take points honors in a particular class, for the season. | |

Duane, ...how can we get more involvement here....I would like to see people a lot more active than 1 post a month or so....I realize people are busy, but how important are most of the issues raised here?, it seems few want to get involved....and just more interested in making a rooster tail |
