Not to age myself or anything but my family and I have been doing Memorial Day at Red Bluff every year since I can remember. Unbelievable we have to do without AGAIN! My whole summer would consist of Red Bluff, Chowchilla, San Diego, and Phoenix. I am so depressed!

I,m sure all the Caif, Nevada and Oregon boat racers feel the same way. Chowchilla has more water this year than ever. But lucas would rather race in a dirty dusty place in California than a beautiful place like Berenda Res. Hopfully next year Lucas will come to thier centcess and put on a race thier.

Well, I am sure nobody is twisting your arm to go racing in Elsinore Dave. It is still 80 miles closer than San Diego and we will be the only boats on the water. Your time of getting rules pushed around and changed with IHBA are over. "I couldn't see the lights" etc etc. You will not stand a chance in Elsinore. No 7.70 rule.

Been going to Red Bluff since 1984, only missed one year in all that time. I will just sit and go thru a few thousand old pics and drink my sorrow away. I hate salmon.

Tony, did i ever tell you about the time Dave had a petition at the inramp at Castic trying to get me and others in or considering PCE of changing the redlight/ first or worst rule?? he didn't like actually having to try to cut a light like everyone else, there wasn't enough cushion for him, so i told him to build a faster boat and he wouldn't have to leave a day early on the line!

Boys, boys, boys, now please, all I want is for the NITRO NATIONALS to return to Red Bluff. It has been a family Memorial Day Tradition for as many years as I can remember!  I am struggling to get by another Memorial Day Weekend without DRAGBOATS in Red Bluff! Is there ANYTHING we, as fans, can do to assure we will have those beloved boats next year?

Yep Tomi your right on. My first race at Red Bluff was in 1974 My last was in 2008. But my first race was in 1969 at Bakersfield NDBA . I've seen the best of the best race on the west coast over 40 yrs. I think locals in Red Bulf area should call the city and have them talk to Lucas Oil for next your. I know the support of the community was overwheming over the years. Just don't give up.

Is there ANYTHING we, as fans, can do to assure we will have those beloved boats next year? Stop the feds from decommissioning the dam and building the super expensive, power consuming pump station to pump irrigation water instead of letting gravity do it for free.

The short answer is "No". The work is in progress on the pumps and the gates for the Red Bluff Diversion Dam will only drop from mid June thru mid August for the next two years. I have fond memories of sneaking into the races as a kid, then as a paying spectator, and finally as part of Team Rescue. The races, as we have had in the past, will most likely never happen again.

Howard, remember the City has disbanded their Parks and Rec Dept. I was informed the City Council wants a race there, The Water Dist wants a race there, and Your Favorite Club wants to be in charge....I suggest you go visit with your Council Memember friend who now is the Accountant for the Dairymen Bros. you and I talked about a few months ago....just my 2 cents worth....I dont think I'll get any change back.

Also, The Council Memeber who ran for Supervisor wants a race there too....For the "For What it's Worth Dept." I was informed several months ago that Lucas would love to have a race at Chow in 2011, but that Chow must hook up with either NJBA or CDBA or a like association....

Good Luck!

Hi Bob, good to hear from you.  Your a great guy and were always so helpful getting the races going back in the day with the Lions club.  But honestly, I dont think that anyone is interested in putting on a race at Chowchilla.  There is just to much bullshit dealing with the city and the watet district. And on another note no money to be made for any promoter. I dont think there was water issues last year, I think Fegan saw the writing on the wall and didnt want to loose money puting on that race.  Ive raced there every year since 2001 and the the spectator count has always been low compared to Redbluff or any other national events...
