Title: “All Lit Up” Team Moving to Top Alcohol Funny Car

Steve and Shane Westerfield and the “All Lit Up” crew are embarking on a new drag racing adventure for the 2010-racing season. After three consecutive years racing in the Top Alcohol Flatbottom class, the decision was made on Monday to put away the boat and bring out a car.

Steve had lower back surgery in early October making him unable to drive the “All Lit Up” boat. Tony Scarlata stepped in for the last two races of the 2009 season, winning both Bayfair and World Finals events. The “All Lit Up” team appreciates Tony’s enthusiasm when asked to step in for the last two races. Because Steve won’t be able to race in 2010, the team decided it was time for Shane to take the opportunity to fulfill his dream of driving a top alcohol funny car.

The “All Lit Up” team will miss the drag boat racing community the most while away from the boat races. We will attend as many drag boat events as possible in 2010 and expect to see members of our boat racing family out on the asphalt cheering us on! We are all looking forward to seeing everyone at the last IHBA banquet next month, and will keep the memories of the boat races with us as we compete in the top alcohol funny car class. J
