Has anyone heard anything about Red Bluff being shut down due to environmentalists? Someone, who has no affiliation with racing other than being a fan and resident of Red Bluff, just told me no more races in Red Bluff. I hope he was mistaken. Shawn |

SOMEONE here must have Ali's phone# (or a direct link to him) to receive the curent status of the race for 2009. It would be nice to know ASAP, as travel and vacation (time off from work) plans for the racers, crew and spectators need to be put in place in the coming weeks... |

Got a buddy that lives up there and was telling me the same thing. He's a 1/4 mile asphalt racer and said the local tree huggers are bitching about some fish issue. Always something with them freaks! |

I talked to Ali this morning and as of right now, there is no race because there is no water. He said that a new water report will be given on January 2nd and that a decision will be made at that time. He also said that he knows everyone is wondering about it and that he would post all the info on the web after the decision is made.
Clear as mud, isn't it?
As soon as I hear from Ali on January 2nd, I'll be sure to post what he tells me here.

I find it hard to believe that the city of Red Bluff would not push for the race. It is my understanding that one race brings in 25% of the city's revenue for the entire year. The way the economy is now, that could make or break their budget. Hopefully, Mother Nature will give us a helping hand. Thanks for the info.

That would be the sh*ts to loose that race. Next they'll take chowchilla too. We need to come up with more places to race on the West coast so all of us don't have to drive the way the hell and gone just to get our rush. |

Hi all!
I know Tim did say he would let you all know what's going on today as soon as he got word, however, he got burned pretty good today (just his arm) and wasn't at his shop this afternoon. So he said to let you know that he will call Ali on Monday morning and I will post any info here asap.

For Immediate Release;
Red Bluff, California, New Entertainment Concepts, Inc. (NEC) announces that following an environmental law suit filed in US Federal Courts litigating Fish Passage issues at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam in May of 2008, there was a ruling issued mandating the Dam Gate operations that result in rising of Lake Red Bluff to be altered in order to accommodate the endangered Salmon migration. Following this ruling and after months of deliberation the authorities have informed us that the Dam Gate operations will be rescheduled to where it will leave the lake without water and dry during the 2009 Memorial Day Weekend and very possibly in the years beyond.
NEC further announces, after much deliberation and in communication with the International Hot Boat Association (IHBA), with heavy hearts and great regret, it will not be holding the Nitro Nationals, IHBA Lucas Oil, World Championship Drag Boat Racing on Memorial Day weekend in 2009. Moreover, NEC shall also table the Yamaha X-Treme Summercorss Nationals as well as its fall motocross series.
For more information on the IHBA nationwide tour schedule, on other Drag Boat Races please visit www.ihbaracing.com. | this is on the ali's website. Has there been any thought or talk of a later race? Don't know when just wondering. |

Ouch, I was planning on making it for the first time this year. Hopefully after missing the race one year the area will see how $ the race means and tell the tree hugger fish lovers to deal with it. Till then it is a sad time. I was looking at the records a while ago and it seems that many were set on at Red Bluff, hope we don't lose any more races. Maybe there is a smalll chance that we can race somewhere else that weekend. |

After the "rain out" of Red Bluff this last year, an announcement was made that NEC would honor any unused tickets from this last year's race for next year's (ahem!) race that will not take place now. I sent in several unused tickets at that time. Yesterday, I received the following letter in the mail from NEC concerning those tieckets...

RE: Nitro Nationals Drag Boat race ticket rain checks
Dear Customer;
This letter is to inform you that following an environmental law suit filed in US Federal Courts in May of 2008, litigating Fish Passage issues at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, there was a ruling issued mandating the gate operations that result in rising of Lake Red Bluff to be altered in order to accommodate the endangered Salmon migration. Following this ruling and after months of deliberation the authorities have informed us that the dam gate operations will be rescheduled to where it will leave the lake without water and dry during the 2009 Memorial Day Weekend and very possibly in the years beyond.
In this regard, with great concern and a very heavy hear we regret to inform you that do to the above referenced information combined with the great loss and hardship our company suffered as the result of the rainout and rescheduling of the event in 2008, we are not only canceling the event for 2009 but it also means the end of our business.
Please be advised, that at this juncture, if you were not able to attend the makeup event, the tickets you submitted for a rain check for this year are at this point dismissed.
Please accept our most humble and most sincere apology in that we regret any inconvenience and loss this may have caused you and pray and hope four your grace and understanding. IF you have any questions or comments you may write us for limited time at info@necsports.com .

People that live in Red Bluff and the surrounding areas why don't you stand up and help fight this crap.For a huge part of that town the nitro nationals bring in a great part of your yearly income.What the f&*k,do something....Start writing letters to your city,complaining about this crap....common. My god most of us are conservitives and we just keep letting these mother fu****s run right over the top of anything and everything we like to do. Maybe if they (the f***ing tree huggers) would take their beloved sealions off the endangered species list and kill some of those fu**ing things we would have more fish in the river,has anybody been down to queer town and went to peir 39 and what not and seen all those.....those damn things are from san deigo to BC and they don't eat the whole fish,they just eat the bellies. I shoot those fu**ers up here in oregon,sea lions that is(tree huggers are coming next) Your telling me there's not a lawyer anywhere in the IHBA that can't figure a way to get this crap blocked.I know of one lawyer but I don't know him. Hey people it's time to be proactive and not just sit and bitch but do something.....why the f**k do you think these tree hugging assholes get their way....their proactive! I don't care if your from Oregon,Wahington,Northern California,Southern California,Arizona,New Mexico.....I think your getting my drift, you need to write the chamber of commerce(Red Bluff) call the Governor of california(Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Phone: 916-445-2841,Fax: 916-558-3160,Say something in the effect of your getting sick and tired of a republican standing up for right wing liberials and all their tree hugging ways. Don't you know people there's still a whole lot of us out there,but if your not proactive and working for our bennifit we are going to loose everything. I love riding the dunes and we are loosing those by huge acres at a time,Oregon and California. I am always begging people on myspace and craigslist to do the same thing.....to write but no one seems to care,They care about riding,racing,but they can't call or write or stand up for anything.Do I sound like I have passion for this stuff,I do and I do my part in trying to save our racing and our duning and our desert racing and having fun on the parker strip.....I mean shit what are you going to do when these things are done with?Because it's coming people,sit in your rocking chairs and talk about how you shoud have,could have,would have.....oh but I didn't!!! Oh for the guy about the economy and such,it's not the economy dude.....Its the F***ing tree huggers!!! Please be proactive and get the word out on every forum,from this, to I hate to say it....drag boat alley,but this is bigger than any competing websites,any and all forums that have to do with any and all motorsports.We need ALL the people to write!!!!!!!! I AM BEGGING YOU PEOPLE.....ITS THIS SERIOUS NOW. Why can't these magazines that write about boating and quading and duning and jeeping and such stand up and write articles on this stuff,hell every other magazine writes about how the tree huggers are doing good and this and that,maybe we all need to write these companies as well and say wake up,who are you for....is it money or is it for the sport?Start threating to cancel subscriptions,hell I will start tomorrow,I will be the first!(PROACTIVE!) Everyone have a good day,week,month. Sincerely, Rob |

Now that's f***ing passion, there. I agree with everything. I don't have a beef with sealions but tree huggers are fair game. |
