CNN just showed video of Whiskey River's Crash yesterday @ San Diego on the 4:00 PM (Phoenix) News ..... Lousy way for Drag Boat Racing to get National News Coverage ....... Great that Mark is OK ..... As an owner, I feel Very Bad for Jay and the entire Crew.

On the hour, every hour, CNN continues to run the video ... each time with a little more footage.
Also hear that Dallas Helm, Owner of Menkens Racing Propellers, just finished a 20 + minute interview with a television crew that may make National News. |

By Saturday the new of the crash was published and broadcaster over in the UK and New Zealand. The good news is there is a chance here for the Whiskey River team to get exposure and a sponsor. Jay and Mark both want to come back and Jay told me he is really entertaining the idea of an outrigger. Just need sponsors dollars now!!! |

Local news here in the Fresno area did not even know the boat was a local boat and racer. Have seen the crash about 3 times a day since saturday. Never fails thou if the event was a crash free event probably little to no coverage but throw in a crash and thats all they focus on. I wish Drag Boat racing got the respect and coverage it used to. |

I beleive the sport is getting good raps on it's safety procedures after watching the video clip from the NBC morning show. This is what the sport needs, that a guy can crash, and walk away with a small bruise on his arm!!! Well done to Mark on the interview and to everyone concerned on safety. It's working!! Remember, any publicity is good publicity and this one is really GOOD!! |

Hey Everybody,
Im still here in New York on Monday evening. Its been one hell of a day let me tell you. I did four interviews today. CBS Early Morning, The Today Show on NBC, Inside Edition, and CNN. Im trying to do us a little better everytime. And when I say us I mean my team and all of us in the sport. This is crazier than the crash. I have to thank my Agent Francine Schill for helping me through this. I hired her four months ago and she is earning her money now trying to keep me pointed in the right direction. LOL Im doing Fox and Friends and CNN in the morning, then I will be returning home. Im doing the best I can to get rid of the nerves on TV. It feels alot different than the speed vision interviews for sure. LOL I have been contacted by two major daytime talk shows also. I will keep everyone updated the best I can. Thanks for the support.

Ok Mark now we know who you kept looking off stage at!!! Keep it going and enjoy FYI/IMO and a view point when asked questions: Q: What’s the survival rate? A: Since the innovation of the capsule in the late 80’s there has been hundreds of boat racing crashes and in this sport there has only been 7 fatalities. Because of the learning and continue development of the capsule this driver is here talking about the extreme crash endured at close to 200 mph. |

Gaz I agree and this is a great opportunity, this is where a PR rep would be good for DBR. Put a camera in my face and I will forget everything I know about DBR. A good PR Rep could help coach prior and between interviews to make the next one a better promotional opportunity.
Mark is doing a great job with each interview, I talked to him today between them (he already had 4) he sounded as he was in a whirlwind, yesterday in San Diego today in New York!!! |
