Hello-

I am setting up a '67 Sanger Flat for the SE / RR class, and I have a question about the fins on the bottom.  Currently, I have 2 fins (8 inches long).  One is centered 79" from the transom, the other is centered 89" from the transom.  I have been told that I need only 1, and that it needs to be fairly small, only 3-4" long.  My question is:  Which fin location do I keep, and where can I get one of these shorter fins?  Do I cut one down that I already have?  I looked for one at Rex Marine and didnt see anything that looked like what I needed...
Many thanks for the help in advance.

I believe that you should remove the front one and leave the back one on with no modifications. Your boat is what we call a true FLAT bottom, today we run what is called a runner bottom this allows the boat to track straight, yours on the other hand has nothing but the fin for tracking. The main thing is to have enough HORSEPOWER to
keep from bouncing down the track with this hull.

GOOD LUCK

Ryan my first flat was similar. I would not go thru the expense of changing the fin. It will race just fine and since RR is a dail in class you will be fine. Just go have fun be safe and enjoy the ride. I would talk with Kevin over at Canyon Boats or maybe Jim Dunn at Bullet Fiberglass if you want to get a fin. Rex Marine have them also.
