I've been debating since the Chowchilla race about posting this. If anyone tries it and it solves their problem, I'm sorry I didn't pass it along sooner. If you try it and it bombs just remember you were having problems before you tried this... We have all watched the perfect pass come to an end with the failure of a blower belt. I have a few given to me as souvenirs. At the Chowchilla race I ran into a friend who builds and rides top fuel Harleys and the subject of "Belt Failure" came up. His thoughts on the matter made sense and I was wondering what some blower drive specialists think of his solution. If your drive is 4" use two 2" belts that are a matched set from the factory. The reason for this is that the wide drive surface will never be perfect in alignment to let the belt run flat. With 2 matched belts half the size you will keep more belt surface in contact with the drives. Well, I'm not sure how this would work for a top fuel Keith Black V-8, but then again that's why I'm posting this idea. What are your thoughts TopWop/Bruce PedrettiChowchilla Chicken ChokersMemory lane is only a 1/4 mile long |

Jayster, Clyde (Rawlings) said that has happened. Who knows until its tried. The trick is to make sure you have "MATCHED BELTS". TopWop/Bruce PedrettiChowchilla Chicken ChokersMemory lane is only a 1/4 mile long |

THINK ABOUT THIS...
There has been drag racing over 50 Years and some very inteligent people still doing it today there is a reason things are done the way they are and that great brain storm you have today more than likely has been tried atleast once over the past 50 years.
Just something that has been told to my by a few Crew Chiefs

Hey Bruce,
Do the belts get thrown or torn? If they get torn seems like if one breaks the other is close behind.

John, The way I understood it, they were torn because of lack of surface area on the drive and what area was in contact had no flex or give, thats where the tear begins and the belt loses its integrity. The second belt should remain in tact being a seperate structure. Like I said before, Theory sounds good and Clyde has had no belt related failures since making the change. Bruce, most of the belt failures are usually not the belt failing. I know that sounds funny, but its the truth. It is always a good excuse for the tuner to say the belt failed, but most of the time it is the tuner . Belts do break, after they are used hard , or alot of boat racers use used belts. Bruce, If the fuel system or any other thing is not quite up to par, belts fly. Bruce, also alot of guys do not get how a belt should be adjusted. It took me a while to figure it out. Call me at the shop, so I can get your address to send you some of my Italian moon shine. 707 864-0332

Duane, I will put my families Grappa up against any ! This stuff will have you on the rev chip so fast, yet it goes down so nice. Bruce was kind enough to supply his own retro bottles. Living in the Napa Valley does have its advantages. We even have a small amount of Sucker Punch red. I will share at the opening race at Phoenix in 07.
