ok, here goes, it was a great time. My girlfriend and myself landed in Melbourne. we were picked up by gary james. he drives a pro mod, (distance thunder). it still need the motor to complete it. gary and his wife Kathy took us on a 3 day trip south down the great ocean road. the sights were beautifull. then we went to Ballerat where they had a great rebellinon against taxing on the gold mind claimes or something like that. then we went back to gary's. that weekend we had a barbie. they were celebrating Australian day. after eating Kanger Bangers, hot dogs made of Kangaroo meat, lamb and chicken. lots of time in the pool. two days later we were in a plane headed of Brisbane, there we were met by Dave Beard. another racer. we went to his house and enjoyed his pool while he was at work. (janet and myself may not be able to go back there, no fences.) we went to the Gold coast for a couple of days did a lot of site seeing. dave and his girlfriend met us at the gold coast on friday night. we left on sat and drove around. then he took us to Brisbane to the river walk. Janet and myself wanted to go kayaking. they said too many bull sharks. then back on the plane and fly to cairns. we rented a car and drove around. janet had a time share and we stayed in a great place, 3 bed room. giant pool just outside our back door. we were living good. we had 4 days. the first day we got on a boat and went to the great barrier reef, went scuba and snorl\kling. hard to discribe how beautifull it was swinning with the fish. the next day we went on a historic train to Koranda. (some of these places maybe misspelled) it went up through the rain forrest. in Koranda we took a tour in a ww2 duck. they told us all about the plants. they also told us Australia has 9 out of 10 of the most deadly spiders and snakes. we decided we wouldn't play with any snakes or spiders. the aborinages showed us there dances then how they throw spears and boomarangs. also how they played there didgiwoos. we then eoad a tram for about 10 miles over the rain forrest. pictures don't do it justice. third day we drove to fort douglas then to dantree. that was as far as the road north went. while there we went on a boat tour and saw a croc. last day we went to town and went swinning in their made beach area. they don't swim in the ocean too much. also did some shopping. they we got on a plane for Sydney. went and saw the great opera house. took a tour around the harbor. walked accross the harbor bridge. then saw the chinese parade. it is the year of the rat. we then rented a car and drove 600 miles along the beach down to Melbourne. took us 3 days. stopped at all the beaches. saw road kill, kangaroos and wambats. saw lots of beautifull sights. took lots of pictures. last thing we did was going to the races. gary was short handed and asked me to tech a few boats. had a great time. everyone treated us great. sadly garys boat wasn't ready yet. understand he has it ready for the march final race. when I was there I did go over his boat and found a few things he needed to correct. it was really a great time. they treated us so great. then the 14 hour flight home. it you think this was boring, wait till I show you all my pictures. |
