Australia - Were proud to announce the birth of another top hydro heading 'down under'. The 'Under Pressure' machine formerly owned by Todd Ellingson will be headed for the east coast of Australia in the next 2 weeks after being bought by a top owner and driver from the Victorian Drag Boat Club. Look forward to seeing the boat on the water in the next few months here! <!-- Edit --> Post Edited (Dads Toy Down Under) : 9/29/2007 11:10:42 PM GMT |

Hi Todd, I've been helping Chris with the deal and Joe S. has been great assisting with the shipping. Thanks for being honest with Chris, its been a pleasure from his side dealing with you. We will keep you updated with Chris on dragboatracing.com and also Drag Boat Review and our club web site. Drag boaters are a great bunch, and even though we are so far away, we are all part of a large family, and it gives us a great feeling that we were not being taken for a ride, quite the opposite. thanks Todd. Is the boat in Austrailia yet? We locked the container more than a month ago. I hope all is well when the container arrives. Hopefully some Illegal amigo is not sporting around downtown Oakland with Gary James new Hans devise. Unfortunately, all of our containers leave S.F or Oakland. Our bay area is flooded with Illegals that are soaking up every government dollar that is left, and ripping every body off that earns there money and pays taxes.

Wish I had known about the containers going down, I could have sent some diecast boats down. I owe Gary some boats and the shipping cost is unreal.

We believe its due to hit aussie shores on the 10th October if all is on time. Takes a few days for customs clearance so it will be a mad thrash for Chris and his crew to screw the boat back together for the 28th Test n Tune. Will keep everybody posted. Gary J.

Hi Jim, the boat was purchased complete with the original enigne so the new owner will run it as it is. We have a 'Pro- Mod' class here that is kicking off. Iron blocks only, up to 500ci, alloy or steel heads, max. 10-71 blower, can run Tunnel ram, carbs, injection, alcohol fuel or pump gas, run 8.00 second index. Its a entry level class to encourage more hydros for a cheaper cost, and close racing. The new owner will run the boat in November. We had word today that the boat is in Sydney and sail tonigh for Melbourne, be here Saturday pm. Should be off the dock by Wednesday next week!

Just curious, but why the engine restrictions on a bracket index class? |

Hi Todd, she's here! Arrived out of the container Friday 19th at 6.00pm Melbourne time. All is well, in great shape! Joe did a great job in packing the boat and all the other stuff, nothing moved and no damage to anything! Boat is in quarantine until wednesday, it has to be chemically cleaned so there are no bugs on the boat or trailer that might effect the local habitat. Chris will probably call you to let you know personally. Shelfo, well done mate everything was just as you packed it! I had some pics but the bloody camera played up and I lost the lot! Oh well, we will post some of the other guys pictures as soon as we can. To all concerned, thanks heaps on behalf of Chris and we will keep you all posted on its maiden run down here in Aussie land!

Gary, that was quite a job. I was worried about the rough sea's, but it looks like she made it , without damage. I can not believe how much is involved in shipping a boat over sea's. I wish everybody over there the best, and keep us posted on the progress, oh and good luck getting the trailer out of the container, that fit really tight. Joe. |

Hi Everyone,
Just read the forum from start the finish for the first time. I have been so busy and going crazy over shipping the boat, I didn't even think to have a look.
Thanks to Todd, Joe, and Precision Craft Marine for helping to get the boat to Australia. And thanks to Gary James for keeping up with this forum and putting my photo on it (not).
Thanks again from Chris Buhagiar and The Trippa (Under Pressure) Drag Boat Team.

Under Pressure is a good name, but we are the Trippa Drag Boat Team, so I have to name the boat TRIPPA. Tripp is my wifes madain name, thats how it started. I have also had a lot of support from my father in law (Jim Tripp), who had no interest in boats untill we started racing. Now he helps with the boat and has been very sucsessfull in getting us sponsorships. I hope he can get us more sponsorships now we have a blown hydro.

We run the boat yesterday, and I cant get the smile of my face. Man what a ride. The first run I just wanted to get through the course and I did, not real pretty. The second run was better, 127mph in 10.081 seconds, and won. The third even better, but lost to reflections who did 157mph. To Todd and Joe, this boat was worth the effort...........Thanks for all your help. |

Hey Todd, just so you know, Paul Madill's pass was the best, but TRIPPA (under pressure) won the Australian Title for blown alcohol hydro (bah). I did 4 runs, best speed 151.7mph. All 4 passes were bye runs due to lack of competition, but a wins a win. |

Hi, just a quick update on the Trippa boat. Time for a capsule! I have had the boat advertisted for 5 months now in the hope to sell and buy a capsule boat already done, but thats not happening. Looks like I might have to fit the capsule I have to the Trippa boat. If anyone has any advise or suggestions, please reply. I will need to update the capsule roll cage. Where can I get roll cage parts like the lid lock down latches and locking blocks? Thanks from Chris.
