Hey Steve, those are some fine looking toys. Welcome to the forums, you seem to have a good bit in common with our brother in Brussels, Nico. Ya'll both build some fine looking R/C's.

maggie said... Steve you must have the patience of a monk to start with a jar of resin, fiberglass, and paint and mold, sand, paint, layer, and sand again for hours with out a pre existing hull form and get these little R.C.’s…. the hours on ORIGINAL pieces of art are priceless…I wish you well in selling some of the little beauties! Hopefully, you will get the chance to render some of the many beautiful boats from this form!…you said you had a brushed silver one, (or something like that)…. got that pic? Hi Maggie My bad. I was just explaining that all the 'paint is metal flake, metalics, pearls and candies suspended in ultra clear resin over the gel-kote(very durable and nitro-proof)and yes the time in these hulls is not somthing i care to keep track of.more pics to come, and a scale capsule flat soon too |

Just to clatify a few things, I'm not here to sell a bunch of boats(I have only sold nine or ten so far)this is not in any way a profit deal.the first hull took over six months of every evening and weekend.the white hull has over 60 to 100 hours in it.One of the reasons I started building these was I refuse to pay $600 to $1,000 for just the hull(and there were no accurate flatbottom hulls avaliable)I wont charge my friends or aquaintences more than I would pay.So I make a few boats ,every one a work of art (sutable as a dining table centerpiece)and I get around 200% to 300% of the costs of materials.I would be more than happy to do a few hulls from time to time (am working on a capsule hull plug right now)but I build them because I enjoy it,and it just dosen't seem right to keep them all for myself. Hi Dave No problem with sending You a hull(and wing) but the trailer was a 'one off' thing but I could draw up plans for the frame and just send the fenders. I'll send you an e-mail later today.and thanks for the interest Steve |

mostly scratch made(but any hardware thats designed for the motor size you pick will be OK) as far as turns go ... well ... lets just say not as well as many R.C. boats but better than most full size drag boats. I'm assembling some cavitation plate hardware to settle the hull before trying a full speed turn.

You sure are building some good looking boats. Ive decided to put one together myself that I have had sitting around scene the late 70's. My dad got it when he was racing full size drag boats. We got it from Dick and Rays boat witch was a dealer for hondo boat and believe it a true hondo hull . If that's the truth I'm afraid to touch it because of the value. It look like one of Irv Brendel's late 60's early 70's dish pan deck's and it is a true flat. Looking for any advice in which direction to go. I want it to be fast for and entertaining for those times when the crew need to get there mind off of the TAH I drive at the end of a long day. Thanks Joe "driver of TAH 521 Pure Nasty" |
