We just received word that Joe LaKamp's youngest boy was killed in an off-road motorcycle accident on Sunday. Taylor LaKamp was dirt bike racing somewhere around Bakersfield and was struck by another motorcycle. Joe was notified Sunday morning, after the NJBA banquet Saturday evening.
Joe LaKamp is the treasurer of NJBA, races both NJBA and IHBA in the Modified Jet Boat class with the BOBSNIPPER boat # 110.
We post this news with a heavy heart and regret; our prayers are with family and friends.

I heard about this two days ago from some family that was there. I did not know that this was the Lakamp boy when I heard the news. Having children of that age myself and doing quite a bit of motorcycle riding as a family, I share in this horrible news. I cannot imagine going through this... Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lakamp family and friends... Jimmy and Rhonda

in my entire life, i've never seen anything quite like this, so wanted to share it. the service for taylor was yesterday. we attended.
over the past 8 years at ming, joe was either pitted next to us, or very close by. both taylor and grady were frequent visitors to the motorhome, and we watched them both grow up over the years.
if a person is measured by lives positively touched, taylor was a considerable success. the chappel was filled, the hall outside the chappel was packed sro, in fact the entire mortuary was packed sro. then, there were the additional 5-600 people standing outside in the rain. rough estimate, 1500 came to pay their last respects to taylor. he was a great kid, and he will be missed.
