Do you want to hear a few highlights of our dealings with Beck Racing Engines?

April 2007: We put down $25,000 towards a $53,000 polished and blown aluminum big block and transmission package. Delivery is promised in 8 weeks.

August 2007: Demands another $10,000 or he will stop the build on the engine.(Already 2 months late) We reluctantly sent the $10,000 with demands for a date of completion.(Which we never recieved)

October 2007: Flew down to Phoenix to witness the shakedown runs of the engine on the engine dyno. When we arrived, the engine was on the dyno minus plumbing, electrical and 10-71 blower. We were informed by Frank that the Blower Shop had delivered an unfinished blower. He stated that the "rotors would not spin freely". We were led to believe by Frank that another blower was being rushed in for the weekend. After waiting for 3 days, nothing ever showed up. We contacted the Blower Shop only to find out that Frank had never actually ordered up a supercharger for us at all. After finding this out and arriving home, we contacted Frank to let him know we would be meeting him while at SEMA to discuss our frustration.

SEMA: While walking the show, we find our serial numbered, documented and dyno presented engine sitting in the booth of Gear Drive Vendors INC.(They are good people and were not aware that the engine Frank lent them was a customers) We then tracked Frank down on his cell phone and then confronted him at the MSD booth. After catching him in multiple lies, we had uncovered the fact that the engine presented to us via email, photos, documentation and serial numbers was not our engine, and that we had been stolen from and defrauded after 7 months the sum of $35,000.

December 2007: We have aggressively pursued Frank Beck since SEMA only to be met with belligerent, threatening, victom-role behavior. We have further uncovered over 2 dozen arrests and convictions to include a felony theft in May 2007. We currently are building a SEMA going 69 Camaro. The client is very upset and progress has been very slow because of this issue. At this time, we are working with detectives in the Phoenix police department and the state attorney generals office to have Frank brought up on theft, fraud and felony charges.. To date, we are out our $35,000. We have purchased our transmission elsewhere and have now started the engine building process all over with a more reputable builder who we have done our homework on.

Please, do your homework and a background check as we have also uncovered over a dozen judgements pending against him, all for the sums of $30,000-$50,000. Don't end up in the same situation that we did.

Did you send the checks United States Postal Service. If you did the guy also committed mail fraud and you can contact the postmaster. Mailing money/checks US mail as opposed to Fed-Ex or UPS gives you a little extra remedy when you are defrauded. I hate hearing these stories, they are all too common in the performance/boating industry. What really bugs me is that there is a good honest engine builder out there that missed out on this job and may have needed the work some shister took from him. I guess reputation is everything. I live here in Phoenix and don't do business with them. I have heard mixed reviews about them, but never anything like this. I am very sorry about your situation. I will be sure to spread the info to all that I speak with. There are too many great guys to work with out there that will deserve our business to waist our time with guys like this. I recommend you delete these threads entirely as we would hate to include you in this suit. Drag Boat Racing is a great & very informative site that we have used often and would like to continue doing so, but this bashing & flame bait deal he had posted here is just a bunch of spewing and does not do either of us any justice.

That sounds like a hollow threat that will go nowhere. DBR neither wrote nor condoned the accusations. If you truly want to save face, you just need to debunk the accusations made by other people. Don't make threats toward an innocent forum. That would make me trust you less than the accusations themself.

Beck....In order for You or ANYONE to win a tort in this state or others, the accusations you mentioned must be proven FALSE and then you must PROVE that you have actual damages....The "8 weeks turnaround time" has come and gone months ago....Who lied to who? Seems to me that you owe this man his motor, and others too.....Your spewing your threats here only proves his point even more than the words he used. Do the right thing, give the guy his $$$$ back and move on.....

Well Frank how have you been, we have not heard from you for months now. As you know after dozens of e-mails and phone calls you still continue too ignore our demands.



I also have spoken with Juan, remember you have stolen from him as well and as you know he has contacted legal help as you continue your fraud. When can we expect our $35,000.00 to be returned plus $4000.00 in travel fees?

Hello Shaun Duncan. Have you started a legal process of your own? Seems to me that this is a no-brainer and you should prevail rather quickly unless there is something that is being left out. It sure seems like this Frank Beck has lots of items for sale and has lots in his shop that could be forfeited once you have a judgment. I hate to see things like this happen and sure hope you get some resolution as soon as possible. My experience has been that the longer you wait, the tougher is becomes. Good luck to you...

Frank Beck, what gives? This man seems to make a pretty compelling argument. You seem to have a very nice operation and could not have this if you treated all of your customers this way. The doors would have shut a long time ago. This press can not be good for you or your business. I know that there are a great deal of people on this site that are involved in all types of racing and some that do there own home projects as mentioned earlier in this thread and you would do well to resolve this so you can continue to do what you do......Build engines..And from the looks of your site, very good ones at that...

I think it is a very far stretch to think that Shauns only motive is to direct people away from this site like your comments seem to imply....."Stranger", he may be a stranger to this site (like all of us were in the begining) but he obviously is not a stranger to the racing world and his product speaks for itself. I hope he sticks around like he mentions and becomes a regular, not a stranger....

I for one agree with what Shaun is doing. People like Beck should be thrown to the wolves and EVERYBODY should know about it...If one of the many that have been cheated by this man had spoken up in the fashion that Shaun has here, then maybe Shaun and others would not have a beef with BECK because they simply would not have done business with that group given thier reputation. It seems that there is lots that Beck has to answer for and the only thing he has said is "Stop it or I will Sue"...Wow, now that is a great defense...

I am more confused about your position then I ever was. It almost appears that you support Beck on this and all others are "losers" and their comments are nothing more then "Mudslinging by a bunch of Losers that are suffering from Boredom and are not interested in the Truth" If that is you opinion then I respect that you have an opinion but I could not disagree with you more than I already have.

I am sure the FACT that Shaun is out $35,000 is not MUDSLINGING it is what it is...He has tried to remedy this issue with Beck, the Chamber of Commerce, the police departments and others and is now airing his frustrations so as to keep this from happening again and hopefully find some resolution to his issue along the way. I do not know Shaun or Beck for that matter, but I can smell a rat here and it comes from the Southwest and not the Northwest....

Finally, if you have intimate knowledge about what the "TRUTH" is with respect to this issue, then please share it with us...We are waiting...

We have no reason to spread false info. Maggie...have you seen the pics of of our shop or our projects? We hardly have time to spread all this truthful info.

So here's the latest on the Frank Beck Racing Engines scam: we called him a few times last week, and although he never returned any of our calls he did actually answer the phone once! We once again requested that he return the $35,000 that he had fraudulently taken from us, and his response was "that's not the way it works"! Can you believe the nerve of this guy!? Then he went on to say that I "better watch myself" and that we were wasting our time talking to the police!

Hello, on my way through the net looking for a new street engine for my BB chevy, I also got in touch with Beck racing engines. They already sent me a quotation. Prior ordering from a company I do not know I´am looking for some references about the companies reputation.... and found this.

As you might imagine, Í feel a little irritated now.
The fact that I would order from overseas, does not it make easier for me to evaluate this thread.
Last year I met a canadian guy, who bought an engine from
Bill Mitchell . He made a similar experience with them like described here.

Should I better buy a GM PP engine through my local dealer ?
I also read too many different opinons about their quality.

Ragarding the Euro/$ exchange rate, it still makes much sense
to me buying in the country that invented  and evolutioned V8- power.
    
I just wished somebody could pass me the complete list of
bulletproof trustworthy engine builders in the US. I am sure, it will be long, but it would definitely shorten my formation of opinion.
