Mar. 8, 2008; Bakersfield, CA, USA; Nostalgia top fuel dragster driver John Shoemaker drives at full power past the finish line during qualifying for the 50th annual March Meet at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway. There is a lot of speculation from the rescue guys he may have suffered a heart attack or something in the middle of his run. Its may be true because he never got off the throttle and the chutes were never deployed. In some close up views of my pics of his run you see his hand over his face from halftrack to about 1000ft and then his head appears to be tilted back with his helmets padding covering his face. If he wasnt already dead before the hit I im guessing the hit would of killed him because it was with vicous force that he hit a dirt berm past the sandtrap.
