I am truly sad to be adding the news today of the passing of another flat bottom legend Jerry Davis, he ran a great season in 2009 while he battled with cancer. God Speed Jerry and God Bless the War Party TAF 556.

Visitation Wed. 1/27 from 5 to 8pm 1801 E. White Oak Terrace Conroe, TX 77304 936)756-3311 (Hwy 105 W, next to 1st Bank Conroe) Funeral Thur. 1/28 at 2:00 at the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, TX

As many of you know, 2009 was a very difficult year for our drag boat racing family. Over the course of the year, we lost 5 racers and team members. Two were from accidents and three with health issuers.
In June, we lost PE457 driver jimmy tucker, to a crash. Jimmy was the 2008 world finals champion; his ever present smile will forever be missed.
In July, one of the legends of your sport, Mr. Don Ermshar, TAF 674, crashed in Ft. Worth. He fought a gallant battle but succumbed to his injuries on Aug 27, 2009 He was on of the sports true legends, a true gentleman, a fierce competitor, and the epitome of a drag boat racer. He led by example, and was a real life mentor and hero. He was an excellent example of the “good” in the drag boat racing.
Dan Chittendon was one of the motor builders to one of the baddest hot rods on the planet…. The Speed Sports TFH 7. He was best known for never giving up. No matter how big the problem or obstacle, he was up for the task. He is dearly missed.
Gene Hackett – TAF 2882 was another of the sport’s pioneers. An early racer and driver, he later shifted his efforts to help on g other racers, with support and sponsorship. He was always will to hleop his fellow racers.
Ron McLellan – TFH 131 - “the crazy canuck” half of the owner/driver team consisting of himself and Bob Montgomery. Ron had the vision and believed the outrigger TFH was the future, and he proved it. TFH 131 was another of the baddest hot rods on the planet.
Today, at the 2009 World Finals’ we have a couple of “Texas boys” who wanted to salute and give a final “Texas Tribute” to honor the fallen fellow racers, with the crowds help.
Mary Logan PM 881 Livin tha Dream and Steve Pruitt TE 426 Hold My Beer and Watch This made a slow pass carrying the American and Texas flags, joined by the IHBA, NAPA and Lucas Oil, in honoring and paying tribute to these fallen racers. Theses racers may have been from all over the world, but each of them, had a heart a s big as Texas.
As the Texas boys idle down the course, with tears in their eyes, join in by screaming, hollering, cheering, and clapping. Make as much noise as possible, to let these fallen racers hear you all the way up in heaven, Letting them know how much we miss them and appreciate all of the incredible things they did for the sport old drag boat racing.
Everyone “raised the roof” off Firebird today for these guy!
